Thanks to all who made it happened.. Our hard work paid off and it will be a night i will always remember.. Very very unforgettable..

1) we have 62(and counting) juniors, making us a ~90-man band! the music room is really
quite crowded and squeezy.
2) section 3 is going to be dissolved and replaced by the octave section after our batch.. poor
things..
3) concert's on the 26th of may at drama center at 7pm. keep that day free k? and the name of
our concert is Windworks!

Yay! today we recruited maby people into harmoc! we told the juniors to come at 3.30pm and at 3.25pm there was no one in sight. then suddenly at 3.3opm, right on the dot, the door opened and everyone streamed in.. haha.. we were about to think of plan b( the plan that we will have to use if no juniors came). A total of 59 people turned up! So a big THANK YOU to those people who helped to msg all 99 people on the sign up sheet. Msging them really worked. And to the exco members who planned the orientation.

Okie people.. there will be 2 rehearsals.. One this wed and one on next tues.. Both from 3-6pm...Plus one on this fri only if the wed rehearsal is chaotic.. Please be in the music room by 2pm so we can prepare ourselves, familiarise with sitting arrangements, learn how to walk in and out of the stage etc.. then go hall promptly at 3 because we are the first item..

yesterday's prac.. someone (shall not say who) came back to see how we are doing.. then suddenly that person took out a bunch of hp socks.. asking people around whether they are interested in buying one for charity.. haha.. then she insisted that her main aim coming back was NOT TO SELL STUFF! Cos we told her that music room doesn't entertain salesman/woman .. BUT IN THE END, most of us were somehow hypnotized to purchase.. Well.. at least it was for charity.. If anyone wants to buy can approached JOANNE to buy from her to help her sell and do a part for charity!! oops.. a slip of my mouth, the person is indeed joanne! Haha.. but i guess she will not mind.. help her advertise..

Yes! the no air con block!! okie.. its cos they have A Level oral till tml(2.30pm to 5.30pm) at the reading room.. and to facilitate the smooth runnig of the oral, we cannot have prac at the A block cos we will disturb them.. So... We will meet at 2.30pm at B101 tml for prac instead.. yup

And for those who have not even registered for cca on isp, please do so quick! or not you may end up not being reflected as a harmoc member on isp.. then you will be considered as one with no cca! so register now!

Hi everyone,

erm...okay this is abit wierd..posting on the blog about a lost item..haha...but the lost item is quite important and it sorta concerns my life and death (*eyes at eunice, hongwei and caibok*)..haha...okay lets get to the point. I lost a grey coloured transparent bottle during the harmoc concert, left it at backstage left near the exit, then when i went to get it the whole backstage was practically empty..think you all must have cleared it to outside the drama centre. budden apparently i wasnt able to locate it outside as well. If any kind soul was to have accidentally took it back home or knows the location of it, pls kindly pass it back to me...thanks! [or else i'll be on the newspapers soon.....the obituary.. =( ]

Musical chairs!!

Haha.. Today was the first prac for j1s.. Though the attendance was quite bad (only half of the j1s turned up), we had lots of fun playing musical chairs during the 15 mins break.. Haha.. Kelvin and Guan Jie lost all because Yuan Guang left a lot of space in front of him.. so the people behind him were all cramped up.. Should see how shocked Kelvin was when the music suddenly stopped and he was left with no seat.. Clever him decided to cheat with yg and held on to every chair near him the second time..... so this time guan jie lost.. Haha.. Shall post the video sometime soon.. Super funny..
And we decide maybe we should have a 1 hr game session after prac once a week to play this! And of course some other not as physically and mentally challenging games!

wahaha....today...our new prez is supposed to send e job scope frm joanne to e whole exco....

1) she send e email our...onli to realise she didnt attach anyting....(she was informed of her mistakes by no more than 4 ppl who happen 2 be waiting for her impt email..they r ruyi,me,yuan guang n kelvin

2) she decided to send e email again....promised wif e attachment....but she attached e wrong document....argh!!!!!.....dis time she is again informed of her super stupid mistake by e same 4 of us...haiz

On a bright and lovely saturday morning, the j1s from harmoc gathered at yuan guang's house to bake yummy cookies for our seniors! Freddie and I went to yuan guang's room to use his com to touch up some piano scores to be printed for nai chong for our grp item.

We were happily editting, until.... irritating dingfang, eugenia and eunice come and ka jiao. They caught sight of this cute dog lying on yuan guang's bed, and decided to name it nai chong and made it sit in front of the com to oversee the score editting process. it has been two days since we gave e seniors e cookies and mugs...guess seniors shld haf eaten e cookies...u muz b wonderin...omg! how does such wonderful cookies cum abt?...prepare urselves for e revealin of e secret ingredients to e success of the delicious(yum yum)cookies...muahaha...

dun worry...we got wash our hands(abt one time only)....squashin e cookies with our hands..

Thank you people for giving me the most wonderful night i ever had this year.

Thank you for allowing me to step down and leave harmoc with such a happy memory.

Thank you all for making the concert yesterday night a success. I think we managed to convince some people that we aint at all bad musically wise. My teachers were telling me our syf pieces were really well played and deserved more than just a silver.

And kudos to section 1 for the leap in improvement within a short span of 2 days.

Kudos to the zhuan shu and i believe people who managed to play the piece properly after intense practising within A DAY.

Kudos to the 7c people who spice up the first half of the performance? Bleahx =x

Kudos to all the J2s for the wonderful performance put up during the anime piece. My friends all said it was near perfection, only minor slipshods.

AND KUDOS TO EVERYONE! WE ROCK DRAMA CENTRE YESTERDAY NIGHT AND IT'S ALL THANKS TO EVERYONE'S EFFORTS!

Let me congratulate the ex-co and everyone for pulling together to do Harmoc proud. I am personally impressed by the extra mile put in by many people ( including those who labour out of the limelight) and I wish to pay tribute to their commitment and dedication to Harmoc. Please convey my heartfelt appreciation to them. Now all of u have "graduated" to the ranks of "The Seniors" or " Da Jie and Da Ke" to your juniors. These are the photos that we took the other day. Hmm, I was looking through the list of items and actually, we have a very interesting programme lined up! Nice scores for group items, many thanks to lin li for helping us with so many pieces and also huifang for the carmen piece. So let's work hard ok? 1 week left and let's really make good use of the nice scores and not leave any regrets...can?
We only have 3 more practices to our concert, so let's aim for full attendance! I know this is eating into the mugging time for BT2, but J2s, these are your last 3 practices and J1s, these are the last 3 practices with J2s.

It's my turn to post an entry now.

Everyone, i guess it's high time we stop dwelling on the past and move on. We cannot revert time, nor the judges' decisions, but we can PROVE THEM WRONG by showing others we AINT DESERVING OF ONLY A SILVER.

It's a silver plated gold we got. I believe we can show those myopic fools out there that there is something shimmering beneath that foil of slothful silver. Come on, we shall all do it?

Harmonica always rise to the occasion dont we? We shall stand up again from this setback and aspire to do even better in our upcoming concert.

Do we not agree that we have to do justice to ourselves, to show that the months of effort we have put in have not gone to nought?

Therefore, i beesech upon everyone to continue to strive hard for the upcoming concert. That's our chance to redeem ourselves!

I know some people are already disappointed, and are harbouring the thoughts of quitting already. But i seriously hope that these few months of practising together meant something to all of us, and that none will walk out on the rest at this juncture.

J2s, how much longer will we get to stay in this family? Isnt there a sentence in the HC song that says: 既然爱上了，又为何不付出？

If we didnt love the CCA, why would we have devoted so much time to it, staying hours into nights for the common goal? Since we love the CCA and this big family, why not perform the last spur and bring it to greater heights before the new wave, new generation takes over?

Let us all have some common memories before we leave shall we?

I hope harmonica holds some sentimental values for us all. Stay on! Battle ON!

PS: there's nothing shameful of a silver. We tried our best, we did our best. We need not answer to anyone except to ourselves. Ask yourself whether you'll be easily beaten flat by this one setback, or whether you'll try to do something about it. Therefore, i hope everyone can hold your heads high and proudly answer those recalcitrants, that insist on extending their tentacles TOO FAR by asking how we fared, that we got a silver. If you're ashame of doing so, then you're shameful of harmonica, and embarrassed of this family where your roots hold. Are you? Ask the deepest inner self and your heart then.

Hey guys,

Wah, one day has passed since our syf. It feels like a dream, doesn't it? Everything passed so quickly, that eight minutes up on stage was over just like that.
I know this is cliche and mushy and so many people have said this, but i must still say it:
I am so damn extremely ultra tremendously bloody awfully enormously proud of all of you.
Section 1, the whole band can see the effort that you all put in for la cinq, sorry for all the stress that i keep giving you all. I think you all were the heros! :D
Section 2, all along very ready steady, very enthu, very gossipy, very expressive (esp huixin!), very unglam... You all are always behind me, both literally and figuratively. Thanks for the support!
Section 3, a bit "salt4" diao, still have xian2 dan4 chao1 ren2 cheer...very united! Have learnt to move your body over the 5 months! Very good!
We have really made many improvements over the past 5 months, from not getting the rhythm to memorising the scores, i'm so very proud of all of you.

Of course, there are so many people to thank! (in no order of preference) Mr soon (?), mr tan, mr loy, esther, lin li, hongpei, huifang, yunting, max, yuejia, xueyi and all who went down to give us support and came back to listen to us. There is of course the exco too - yinshan (everything!), naichong (conducting!), meihui (clothes!), yuan (food!), junkai (sai gang!), serene (pianist!), fanqi (section 1!), yongsoon (section 2!), xianwei (section 3!). I'm sorry keep making you guys stay back for meetings and meetings and meetings. No fear! We would be having many more soon for our concert. :D Last but certainly not least, thanks for all the encouragements, sms, hugs, cards and effort put in by everyone.

You all must know that a lot of other people were supporting us too! Like liuqing and yilun, two j1s who were with us for the first three months, they all sent messages to wish us good luck! (opps, forgot to tell you all before that) And other non-syf J1s too...some even wanted to go down personally to support us - vivien, bertilla, yingyi - but couldn't. :S Anyway, appreciated!

Don't let our efforts for the past 5 months and ability be judged by the eight minutes we had ok! Somehow after playing, i thought that one chance we had on stage certainly wasn't the best we could give, right? We will do it better in the time to come! Next week we must start thinking of how to make our concert fun k! We will show them how cute harmoc people are, haha. Till then, we shall all take a break and come back energised. :)

Hold your heads high kids, cos i'm really very proud of all of you. We are zai kids. :D

hi people. hm is it the first time i blog here? anyway i am a J3 lah huifang u all should have seen me.

just to express my thoughts about u people for the syf, the results are disappointing, but we seniors are definitely NOT disappointed with u. I'm rather impressed with the efforts everybody put in and the attitude of wanting to make every practice session a productive one. I can see some of you raising hand to ask Mr soon to go through specific parts of the songs that are not well played etc.

HC harmonica is really a very rare and pure CCA. Seeing that everybody being so united and working so hard for the band.. I guess this is the reward of the practice sessions for SYF. Do cherish all the remaining practice sessions for the concert, you will grow to miss it when u graduate (like us)..

Yup to sum up the spirit of hc harmoc is more valuable than SYF medals! i took part in syf for CO 2 years ago, but frankly speaking i would rather be in harmoc SYF and get a silver than to be in Co to get a gold with honours. See what i mean??

HEYS! long time no post here already. For those who don't know or forget (hmph!), this is esther, ex harmoc member from 05/06. Just wanna congratulate you guys coz i could see the effort that you all put in. Especially section 1 jia yous!! as fanqi said, you guys can be either the heros or the one that harmed everyone. HAHA. not so serious la. but making excellent progress! remember, dun panic or just try to get over it, sect 1 you all can do it! Sect 2, my dear old section, cannot let your seniors diu lian. You all sitting right in the middle of the band. Mustn't panic and confuse your fellow band members. be steady and everything will be alright. listen carefully to other sections so that everyone is together. sect 3! the most steady section i think. but also the softest! must play louder ok, coz you all play beautifully. xian wei must have taught you all well =) chords, bass, pianica.. very impressive i must say. you guys are very special. coz can hear you all very obviously from the audience. hor hors. stressed. haha. remember wad linli said, open up the sound!! serene, jia yous for piano!! you play very well. coz i can tell you always follow the band. though they sometimes play fast/slow and duno wad (hmph!) you're very sensitive to the band's music, which is very good. so band, make serene's job easier!! dun rush!!!

anyway, important message is that, i think you guys are great. great learners, coz when seniors tell you all wad is wrong and all, you all can learn and correct pretty fast. you all really got musical flares. but then, you all tend to be forgetful. please always try to remember, go through the reminders and instructions before going on stage. dun talk and chat about unrelated to SYF stuff. when seated to play music, fix your eyes on mr soon and look very excited and passionate to bring songs that you like (i dun care if its true or not) to the audience. make them feel as happy and excited for the first song, then make them feel in love when the second comes. HAHa. dun be too distracted by the audience. just focus and remember what you must do. so well, all the best okies. sorry i can't come on sat and on mon, i'll be most likely watching the other schools. i'll try to sms/call someone to talk about the mistakes or commendable stuff other schools do so you all can avoid or learn. JIA YOUS JIA YOUS!

last but not least, enjoy your SYF okies. its a journey that shld be cherished.

In case you don't already know, harmoc chalet will be on 7th 8th dec (thur, fri), coasta sands pasir ris. Please do come!!
Anyway, in these two days, i attended this cca workshop in school, and i thought ms lum brought up something interesting. She told us, we might have the fastest car and the best driver in the world, but if we don't have any fuel in the car, the car wouldn't be able to run. So you guys are the fuel!! We need you there, or we wouldn't be able to get far during practices. So please come for both the chalet and the practices if possible can?

Hi guys, long time no blog here mans. everyone studying hard...gambate!! J2s, prelims ending soon! Yays, just chiong! J1s, promos coming soon sia, but then, after that you can slack and pia for open house! make harmoc an exciting and big CCA! lols. Students from performing groups in Clayfield College, Australia will be visitingHwa Chong. They have asked to come and perform for our students, as well as toshare and interact with our own performing arts students.

Details of the Session:
Friday, 22nd September, 3pm (1hr)
Venue: College Auditorium
Performing groups from Clayfield: Concert and Jazz Band, String, Vocal andPercussion Ensemble groups.

There will be a reception after this session for students from both sides to interact. Hwye Tiong has requested for students to form an audience from both High School and College sections, as this would be a good opportunity to meet with otherforeign school groups. This is on a purely voluntary basis for your students. Please let us know the number of students who can make it so that we can arrange for the reception.

This year's College Open House is held on 13 Oct 2006 (Fri), from 10am - 2pm. The theme is AllStar: Your Stage. Your Life.

As with previous years, we are inviting the respective performing groups and CCAs under your charge to put up performances at the Central Plaza during the length of the open house. Each group will be given 10 minutes. The guideline is to have a performance that flows with the theme - something lively, attention-grabbing and young =)
Attached is the proposed program schedule for your perusal.
Can you take a look at it and indicate if you are fine with the arrangement?
Along with the performances, each CCA will be allocated a CT bench at either the left or right wing for putting up displays on the group. Can you kindly alert your student leaders to start preparing for the exhibition too?

There is a free public seminar and concert coming up. By Italian Harmonica Master, Willi Burger. The public seminar will be on 8 August, 7.30pm, at CFA Activity Room (wherever that is S: /). Concert will be on 10 August, 7.30pm, at LT13. Ticket price for concert is $10. Good chance to get inspired!

They are a nice bunch of people and will not eat you up. =) From the past few practices, I gathered that many of you are still unclear of the rhythms and beats, which explains why the music sounds so disorganised. So please seek clarification from your SLs if you are unsure of the beats or notes.

Practice on Friday will be from 4pm to 6pm, ending earlier cos some are going to the nj harmonica concert. Emm, can see how our competitor fare.
Meet at the respective b block classrooms, we should be having sectionals all the way cos the scholarship day programmes are taking the LTs i think.
Practise on your own before coming so that we can move on faster, we only have 4 more practices (emm, including this one) to the first national day rehearsal. Must be prepared to come back for practices during the Saturdays if we cannot be ready in time. In case you weren't at the last practice, the following are the rehearsal dates for national day performance:

28 July 4 - 6pm
4 Aug 3 - 6pm
7 Aug 3 - 6pm

Please make these three days free for the rehearsals. The national day performance is actually compulsory for all students and staff. So...we must work harder. :S

thanks to all J1s who made JTS so enjoyable =) it was really sweet. know u guys spent quite a lot of time preparing the song. Do try to get your friends back to come for harmonica. A lot of them 'disappeared' after concert. This is like a trend in harmonica. They seem to think that after concert, there's nothing to do, so they will rather not come for 'slacky' practises. Prove them wrong! Remind them you all will be involved in national day, open house and orientation (remember to drag many pple in!) and a lot of random stuff that will come about. Like maybe, do some christmas busking! Invite the J2 seniors back for christmas busking!!!

Wells, all the best for block tests ya. Then later do continue to work hard for harmonica too. (remember your promises. GOLD WITH HONOURS! haha. always pressurize u guys with this) This is going to be quite a crucial time for u guys, coz when seniors suddenly leave, then the standard (sorry to sae) will inevitably drop a little. So u all need to work hard and try not to get demoralised when things do not turn out the way you all want. Have to be patient lohs. Like how the J2s suffered under > 100 hours in the december holidays just to get a few bloody songs sound ok then end up playing them to a single beh beh who was watching us in the Ngee Ann city performance in the heavy rain. For some time i thought we wasted a lot of time. But later, many J2s commented that it was during dec hols that we bonded and improved a lot on our skills which proved useful for concert =) so yups. Jia yous!

Paiseh, jts will be on next fri, 16.06.06. Will be in school from 10am to 12pm! We'll be catering food. :D Contrast with fish and co and marche and sakae. -.-" But with catered food, more juniors (hopefully) will turn up, seniors will prefer more interaction to more expensive food, right...RIGHT?? anyway, with catering you all can get your guang3 dong1 chao3 mian4 (fav right), then got fish (not much diff from fish and co eh? anyway all fishes) and a variety of food. oh, and the last order from the previous treasurer is that everyone must purchase the harmonica badge. it is priced at an amazingly reduced price of 2 (singapore) dollars only! hurry, while stock last.

I can't believe i have no more responsiblilties in harmoc anymore T_T .. but i will be back quite often :) also to help the librarian and pianist(probably the same person?).. haa. so serene will definitely have to work a lot with me. Ahh but i was so sad that nobody ran for my post in the first place! everybody gave me the same reason..

Anyway, something for all of you to note here. I'm not putting down my job completely yet and i will be doing one last thing for harmoc before i'm not a member anymore. yoyo elections over.. im sure it has surprising results (as usual) haha... congrats to all who got in.. u all are entrusted with roles we believe u r capable for!! even for those who didn't.. ur still part of this fantastic CCA!! cos everyone has a role to play!! yesh lets all believe in ourselves! GOLD with HONOURS!! yeah wish our wonderful juniors allll the best man! the road ahead is definitely tough, but ur really not doing it alone! the whole band is in it together... so just cooperate and things will work out just fine! get used to each other's working style haha... anyway dun be too scared by it.. just enjoy it.. enjoy harmoc! it has brought me lots of joy to say the least.. and many friends too.. harmoc forever!

If this happens, do feedback to them as i'm sure they'll be open to all constructive critisims and will go all the way to make the CCA most enjoyable and good for all members.

Note that if you're running for musical roles, you need to prepare the following:

Librarian: Require some musical background. Best if familiar with chords, improvisations and score arranging.
Section Leaders: Prepare to perform a solo piece infront of the band. A sight-reading piece will also be given.
Student Conductor: Prepare to conduct the entire band with either Radetsky March/Pavane or Memory.

If you have any questions, you may approach the present exco member of the position you're running for. Also, if you're unable to turn up for the elections (compulsory for all J1s and J2s), you have to inform your SL beforehand and submit a piece of paper with your name and post you're running for and a brief para on whatever you want to say to earn votes. Post- harmoc concert

HOW CAN I NOT BLOG?!

Anyway, the concert is over and it’s so unbelivable(I’ve said it a lot of times).. Many of us suffering from Post-Harmoc-Depressions… This is the first time I’m suffering from a depression of having to leave a CCA.. I loved my secondary school CCA (guzheng) and I stepped down only 4 days before the prelim.. Haha, I stepped down about 7 months later than others in my batch & I enjoyed it ^_^ … I’m always scolded by my teacher for being over-commited in my CCA.. haha(during sec 4 and J2).. Anyway I think harmoc is really the best CCA I’ve ever joined.

Also harmoc is the first CCA that I can get so committed.. Can arrange scores and learn from Lin Li, then get the whole band to play what I arranged.. I must say that my early productions are quite lousy and filled with mistakes all over the place, write wrong note accidentally, put some clashing chords together, too plain etc etc.. have to thank the J2s for tolerating with me and my scores.. =P .. Later also go and learn to play the piano accompaniment and subsequently taught others.. It’s really a fresh experience.. Hmm, I admit I can’t teach too, so also have to apologise to the people who have to tolerate with my “you know??” and stuff.. but I hope that some people did learn something from me J

Hmm, I think the childish people in harmoc that Xueyi said includes me too.. It’s great to have many childish people together.. things will be so fun :/ .. the stars and dark cloud systems which didn’t work for example.. haiz.. I really don’t want to leave harmoc.. L but I’ll come back! Maybe after my A levels.
